Kjell Gustafson's homepage - Languages
Below is information on some of the languages that I either know or know something about and which have meant something to me personally.
- Latin
Spoken in Italy and the western part of the Roman Empire in Antiquity; also used as a second language ever since.
- Greek
Spoken in Greece since the second millennium B.C.
- During the time that I have maintained my homepage, my current interest has kept switching from one language to another. At the
moment, the language that fascinates me most, and which I am making an effort to learn (something of), is
Mandarin Chinese
-
Esperanto
Language created by L. Zamenhof in the 1880's.
- A very useful work of reference is: Ethnologue: Languages of the World
Since I started writing this homepage, Wikipedia has come into existence, to some extent making small personal efforts like those above redundant or irrelevant. Here are links
to Wikipedia's articles about the languages mentioned above: Latin, Greek, Esperanto and to Chinese in general.
